Ethereum's layer-2 scaling networks have collectively processed more transaction value than the Ethereum base layer for the first time in history. Arbitrum, Optimism, and Base accounted for the majority of the layer-2 volume.
The milestone validates Ethereum's rollup-centric scaling roadmap and demonstrates that the ecosystem is successfully migrating activity to cheaper and faster execution layers. Gas fees on layer-2 networks averaged less than one cent per transaction during the period.
