The NBA, NFL, and MLB have collectively announced partnerships with blockchain platform Dapper Labs to develop NFT-based digital ticket collectibles for the 2026-2027 seasons. Each ticket purchased for select games will generate a unique digital collectible that commemorates the event and can be traded on a dedicated marketplace.

Unlike the speculative NFT boom of 2021-2022, the leagues are positioning these collectibles as fan engagement tools rather than investment vehicles. The digital tickets will unlock exclusive content, loyalty rewards, and potential access to future events, creating ongoing utility beyond the initial purchase.

Early testing during the 2025-2026 NBA season showed strong fan engagement, with 67 percent of digital collectible holders reporting increased satisfaction with their overall event experience.
